Semi-annual update...(really?)...from the inattentive blogger
In the advancement of my printmaking skills, I attended in a Solarplate
workshop in February with Dan Weldon (the "father" of the technique).
I came away with new tools and inspiration.
Following in March was a show at the Fallbrook Library, where I
encourage anyone to spend time. Such a lovely space.
Took some time his spring to paint instead of make prints - mostly just
for fun. It's nice to occasionally revisit that comfortable place.
Recently I've been working on some new print projects incorporating
traditional and digital techniques. My friend Pat is letting me work on
some of these at her studio, and we are preparing for a joint show at
Pinnell Gallery in October.
Meanwhile, Brandon Gallery will debut "BEST FOOT FORWARD",
a three-dimensional show inspired by footwear, in September.
It's open to all media; should be fun. (There's a prospectus on the
Brandon website (link below)
And my final huzzah: I submitted to a show at The Arts Colony in
Corona this month and was awarded Best of Show for my monotype
"Heartland." To someone who doesn't place a lot of value on judging
and prizes, it was surprising and gratifying. My thanks to the juror for
selecting an abstract print for the honor.
