"An Exultation of Marks" just went up on Letraset's website (May 23).
They were very enthused about how we used the old products.

An Exultation of Marks

This is my latest collaboration with artist/friend
Risa Gettler. It was especially fun to capture some
of our shared design history through her use
of old Letraset rub-on sheets to create the
foliage.

never TMI

I've had the pleasure of taking two terrific workshops in the past month. In one I learned to make solarplates to use in my prints. In the other, I re-invigorated my love of painting. Workshops always give me new perspective on my work and how to develop my ideas. These two have opened the floodgates; I can't wait to get the next concept down on paper or canvas. I hope it goes on and on. I'm posting a couple of prints. I'll post some paintings soon.

using it and losing it

After three days working with Freda Fairchild (two weeks ago) learning
the technique of lithography using polyester plates, I was full of ideas
and anxious to try them.
First, though, I had to finish a mixed media piece I promised myself
I'd enter in Brandon Gallery's "Small Works" show. So I've immersed
myself in acrylics and inks for a few days. Here's "Defying Gravity."
The show hangs the month of November.

One month into the print show at the Fallbrook
Art Center (see previous announcement), I thought
I'd post one of my prints that's included. This show
is really worthwhile for anyone with the slightest
interest in contemporary printmaking - or prominent
20th Century artists. I'm very pleased to be hanging
in such good company.

Show announcement

This is a show with national
scope and includes some
historically significant prints by
well-known artists. Try to
see it if you're in the area.

Here are the final two pastel-embellished prints I've been
playing with. I'm moving on to some experiments with
trace monotypes for upcoming shows.

Been working on some unfinished prints. Some I am
finishing with pastels, some with collage and other media.
Makes me want to do some painting...

spent a couple of days working on some new cards for
the gallery.  Making these little pieces can be very
satisfying - and they keep the creative muscles exercised.

where have I been?

I guess I'm too easily distracted to have a real blog.
Months have gone by again without a post.

I know several people who have recently discovered the zentangle.
My own loose translation of the concept has been a guilty pleasure
for years, and I just finished two that may work their way into my next
monotypes. These are absorbing enough to thoroughly distract you
from the things you ought really to be doing.
What's not to like about that?
